Treasure in Song

Today, we’re going to look at one of the favorite songs of Mrs. Vina Dickerson.  Vina is one of our senior saints at Holly Hill, and has been attending for a number of years.  When I asked her what she might consider her favorite song, she struggled to come up with just one (as I imagine many of us would!).  But, the first song that came to mind for her was “Love Lifted Me.”  I told her that would be a great one.  So, here are the words to that familiar song – read them as if for the first time.

I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore,

Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;

But the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry,

From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.

All my hear to Him I give, ever to Him I’ll cling,

In his blessed presence live, ever His praises sing.

Love so mighty and so true merits my soul’s best songs;

Faithful, loving service, too, to Him belongs.

Souls in danger, look above, Jesus completely saves;

He will lift you by His love out of the angry waves.

He’s the Master of the sea, billows His will obey;

He your Savior wants to be, be saved today.

Love lifted me!

Love lifted me!

When nothing else could help,

Love lifted me!

Tuesday Treasure

Here’s a song that we don’t all know at Holly Hill, but it’s one that has a short and simple, but important message for us all.  It’s called “Turn My Heart”

Turn my heart, O Lord, like rivers of water,

Turn my heart, O Lord, by Your hand;

Till my whole life flows in the river of Your Spirit,

And my name brings honor to the Lamb.
