For those of you that weren’t able to make it to the Bowman’s farm this past Saturday, here’s a short video of all the fun we had! It was a great way to CONNECT with each other, and we appreciate the Bowmans, Gills and Schweickarts for volunteering their time and energy to host this event. It was a lot of fun!

Jesse Bussard has been attending Holly Hill since the first of this year and officially joined our family when she was baptized into Christ a few months ago. Jesse moved here from Pennsylvania to attend the University of Kentucky, where she is working on a Master’s degree in Plant Sciences and also plans to pursue a PhD in Plant Sciences. She comes from a large family, and besides her parents and grandparents, she also has five brothers, one stepbrother and one stepsister. She earned her undergraduate degree from Penn State University in December 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and a minor in Equine Science. She lives in Lexington.
What brought you to Holly Hill church of Christ? I had been friends with Ray Bowman for about a year via Facebook before deciding to make the move to attend grad school in Kentucky. When I knew that this was going to be moving to Lexington, I decided I better find a good church family. I had heard many good things about Holly Hill from Ray many times before and asked him about it. The first weekend that I was in Kentucky Ray invited me to attend services and I’ve been coming back ever since!
What do you most enjoy about Holly Hill church of Christ (or about being a Christian)? I enjoy getting to know the many members of the church family and having the opportunity to fellowship with them at the monthly meals the 2nd Sunday of the month. I am looking forward to becoming more involved in the future, making many more new friends, and growing in my Christian faith. I truly feel blessed to have found a great church family like that at Holly Hill.

What man or woman has had the greatest influence on your life (and why)? I can’t name just one, there are three women who have had a very large influence on my life. Both of my grandmothers and my mother have been inspirational to me. These three women have all had their fair share of hardships in life but have always overcome their challenges. They’ve been behind me from the very beginning showing me support. Without them I wouldn’t have accomplished the things I have today.
Who are your favorite entertainers (musicians, actors, etc.)? I’m a big Texas country and classic country fan. I also listen to a lot of bluegrass and southern rock. My favorites are Reckless Kelly, Jason Boland and the Stragglers, Jason Aldean, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Drive-By Truckers, and New Moon.
A perfect day for me would include….. Spending the day horseback working cattle or just trail riding with family and friends.

• Ride a bucking bull
Thanks, Jesse, for sharing a little about yourself with us. Let’s all take time to get to know Jesse better as we CONNECT with each other!
CONNECT is a weekly blog designed as a way for us to get to know each other better, build stronger relationships, and make us better equipped to edify one another. These blogs will highlight members of our congregation, either new converts, new members, or highlight other members to help us know each other better.
