Thoughts on Power

Christians constantly underestimate what we can do for the kingdom.  We forget who we serve.  We forget the words of Paul in Ephesians 3:20-21:

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.  Amen.” (ESV)

Consider what God is doing at Holly Hill.  He has blessed us with unity despite a merger, the leaving of a strongly supported minister, and a major construction project.  We have a beautiful facility that can be used in a variety of ways for the kingdom.  There is a strong community spirit and sincere desire to reach the lost for Christ.

I challenge you to use the spirit of Christ that is at work within you to do even greater things for the kingdom.  Attend Bible class, read your Bible, teach, discuss, be a person of the book.  Tell people what Christ has done for you.  Do not be afraid to spread the Good News.  Give with a cheerful heart; do not underestimate what you can give to the Lord.  Go out on a limb; get outside your comfort zone.  Remember that we serve a mighty God and that Christ lives within you.  This should give you the confidence to attempt and do things for the Lord that you cannot do on your own.  Imagine what we could accomplish as a congregation that got out of their comfort zone and allowed Christ to use them to turn the world upside down!
