Ray’s Fun Facts

Today, we have Ray Bowman’s answers to our questionnaire.  Ray is one of our elders at Holly Hill, and has served in this position for almost 3 years.  He is married to Stephenia Bowman, and all three of their daughters – Carly Gill, Casy Schweikart, and Etta Bowman – also attend Holly Hill.  Here are Ray’s Fun Facts:

  1. What is (or was) your occupation? shepherd
  2. What book (outside the Bible) have you read that will stick with you forever? Eminent Dogs, Dangerous Men
  3. What or who is one of the greatest loves of your life [other than the Lord, of course]? My wife Stephenia and both my families – my blood relations and my church family
  4. What qualities do you most appreciate in another person? Honesty, humility and integrity
  5. What’s the one area in which you are the least frugal? Books
  6. When and where have you been happiest? Any time I’m on the farm.
  7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? There’s too many to choose from.  I’m a work in progress.
  8. What man or woman has been the greatest influence on your life? My wife, Stephenia
  9. What is your greatest regret? Never being able to live up to my own expectations
  10. What would you consider your greatest achievement? My greatest honor has been serving as an elder in Christ’s church.  I have no achievements.  Whatever I’ve accomplished has been merely as a tool in God’s hands.

Jared’s Fun Facts

This week, we have a special treat, as Jared Pack, our summer intern, was willing to answer our questionnaire.  Jared just completed his sophomore year at Freed-Hardeman University.  He was born in Columbia, TN and raised in Murfreesboro, TN – so, you know what college sports team he’s a fan of (sorry, Kentucky).  Here are his answers:

  1. What is (or was) your occupation? Student/Minister
  2. What book (outside the Bible) have you read that will stick with you forever? The American Pageant
  3. What or who is one of the greatest loves of your life [other than the Lord, of course]? Who- Karen Knight; What-History!
  4. What quality do you most appreciate in another person? I appreciate someone who is genuinely interested in what I have to say and how I feel.
  5. What’s the one area in which you are the least frugal? Buying Shirts and Ties
  6. When and where have you been happiest? I’ve been the Happiest at Freed-Hardeman University, surrounded by all of my wonderful friends.
  7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I would make myself more athletic.
  8. What man or woman has been the greatest influence on your life? My Grandfather, Jeriel Pack
  9. What is your greatest regret? I don’t know that at this point in life I have any great regret.
  10. What would you consider your greatest achievement? The completion of the rank of Eagle Scout.

Sarah’s Fun Facts

Today’s fun facts come from Sarah Hamilton.  She is married to Gerry Hamilton (see Fun Fact Friday, April 23rd), and has twin daughters, Haley and Holly.  Here are her answers to the questionnaire:

1. What is (or was) your occupation?  Former elementary school teacher/ESL teacher

2. What book have you read (other than the Bible) that will stick with you forever?  Dr. Seuss’ “Oh The Places You’ll Go” – good analogy of life.

3. What or whom is one of the greatest loves of your life?  Pekingese puppy breath

4. What quality do you most appreciate in another person?  Humor

5. What’s the one area in which you are the least frugal?  Haley & Holly

6. When and where have you been happiest?  The day the twins landed on earth (safely).

7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?  more talkative

8. What man or woman has been the greatest influence on your life?  My dad.  He was the ultimate “fiscal” conservative.

9. What is your greatest regret?  getting married so old . . . not having more kids.

10. What would you consider your greatest achievement?  my girls


Rob’s Fun Facts

Today’s fun facts are from Rob Catron.  Rob is one of our deacons at Holly Hill.  He is married to Gala Catron, and they have one daughter, Paige.

  1. What is (or was) your occupation? – Part time Information Technology Coordinator (KHSAA) / eBay Sales (Self Employed)
  2. What book (outside the Bible) have you read that will stick with you forever? The Lord of the Rings
  3. What or who is one of the greatest loves of your life [other than the Lord, of course]? Gala Catron
  4. What quality do you most appreciate in another person? Honesty
  5. What’s the one area in which you are the least frugal? Technology
  6. When and where have you been happiest? The day Paige, my daughter was born
  7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My weight – I am constantly battling with it
  8. What man or woman has been the greatest influence on your life? My mother, Betty Catron
  9. What is your greatest regret? Buying one too many new cars and using too much money to do it in 2005. Just like the war movie, “A Bridge too Far” – my story is, “A Car too many”
  10. What would you consider your greatest achievement? Building up my International sales on eBay

  1. What is (or was) your occupation? Library Continuing Education Assistant
  2. What book (outside the Bible) have you read that will stick with you forever? “To Kill a Mocking Bird
  3. What or who is one of the greatest loves of your life [other than the Lord, of course]? My Nicky
  4. What quality do you most appreciate in another person? Contentment
  5. What’s the one area in which you are the least frugal? Books
  6. When and where have you been happiest? Mamaw and Papaw’s
  7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Pessimism
  8. What man or woman has been the greatest influence on your life? Joel Hestand
  9. What is your greatest regret? not being more involved with a youth group.
  10. What would you consider your greatest achievement? 11 years of marriage


Fun Fact Friday

Today’s fun facts come from Steve Small.  Steve has been a member at Holly Hill ever since it opened the doors in 2000.  Prior to that, he was a member at the Frankfort church of Christ on Louisville Rd.  He teaches classes, and serves as a leader of one of our current Family Fellowship Units.  Here are his answers to our questionnaire:

  1. What is (or was) your occupation?  Retired –was in Business Education for 44 years
  2. What book (outside the Bible) have you read that will stick with you forever?  Roberts Rules of Order and a Max Lucado book
  3. What or who is one of the greatest loves of your life [other than the Lord, of course]?  Jeremy Steele and his family
  4. What quality do you most appreciate in another person?  Honesty and being straight forward
  5. What’s the one area in which you are the least frugal?   weight
  6. When and where have you been happiest?  I have always been happy and felt happy whereever I was.  However, I am thoroughly enjoying my retirement and have little to no stress.
  7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?  Get some will power, so I could do some things I want and need to do.
  8. What man or woman has been the greatest influence on your life?  My great aunt by marriage who raised me; Haskell and Yvonne Sinclair; and young people with whom I worked.
  9. What is your greatest regret?  I really do not have regrets.  For example, if I said it was when my wife left me in 1986, I would turn around and say I would not have had the opportunity to accomplish the things I have since 1986–being a more positive influence on others.  I believe the word “regret” should not be used.
  10. What would you consider your greatest achievement?  Hopefully it is the influence I have had on others.  My 13 national championships with FBLA and PBL in coaching Parliamentary teams and my 1975 Class B National High School Baseball Title in Nebraska would be the type of things most would answer.

Fun Fact Friday

Today’s facts come from Jeannie LeBeau.  Jeannie has been a member at Holly Hill since it began in 2000, and was a member at the Frankfort church of Christ for many years before that.  Her sons, Russ Pridgen and James Pridgen, also attend Holly Hill.  Jeannie is the proud grandmother of her son Russ and his wife Samantha’s baby girl, Roxy.  Here are Jeannie’s answers to our questionnaire:

1. What is (or was) your occupation?  I am a librarian, and have been an educator for over 40 years.

2. What book (outside the Bible) have you read that will stick with you forever?  I read a lot of young adult and adult books. I just read “Tuck everlasting” and thought it was interesting on life forever or growing old and dying.

3. What or who is one of the greatest loves of your life [other than the Lord, of course]?  Little Roxy and my children.

4. What quality do you most appreciate in another person?  Honesty

5. What’s the one area in which you are the least frugal?  I am not frugal with anything.

6. When and where have you been happiest?  I was young and in love.

7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?  To be more frugal.

8. What man or woman has been the greatest influence on your life?  My mother and dad.

9. What is your greatest regret?  I really do not regret anything. I have made a lot of mistakes but they get me to this place which is fine.

10. What would you consider your greatest achievement?  Raising a family by myself.


Fun-Fact Friday

Today’s “Fun Facts” come from Gerry Hamilton.  He’s one of our newer members at Holly Hill.  He’s married to Sarah Hamilton, whose answers will be appearing soon.  And, they have twin girls, Haley and Holly.  Here’s Gerry’s answers to our questionnaire:

1.  What is your occupation?  Kentucky State Property Appraiser

2.  What book have you read that will stick with you forever?  Hate to read, the whole process is too slow or I’m too fast…. If it’s good, it will be made into a movie….

3.  What or whom is one of your greatest loves of your life?  MUSIC, could have been a professional drummer, I think???

4.  What quality do you most appreciate in another person?  Honesty

5.  What’s the one area in which you are the least frugal?  MONEY!

6.  When and where have you been happiest?  When my favorite mother in law’s house is built and occupied… Just kidding, we get along great, she has been nothing but good to me. I love being in Florida on our annual 2 week vacation doing kids stuff. It is 2 weeks to forget about Frankfort.

7.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?  Not 49 with 9 year old twins. Oh, yea, less talkative… I would like to be 29 with 9 year old twins.

8.  What man or woman has been the greatest influence on your life?  Neal Peart, what a RUSH, just kidding. My dad of course, he worked so hard to give me and my sister a good life.

9.  What is your greatest regret?  Getting married so young.. again, kidding. Not having more kids.

10.  What would you consider your greatest achievement?  Working in DC as training consultant for Department of State, traveling to Germany to American Consulate General in Frankfurt, Germany and American Embassy in Brussels, Belgium and visiting Brugge & NATO Headquarters. Did all this two weeks after 9/11 tragedy. As Yoda would say “Very uneasy times they were.”

Our first edition of Fun Fact Fridays is provided by Jenny Jones, who is married to Steve Jones.  Here are Jenny’s answers to our questionnaire.

  1. What is (or was) your occupation?  Admin. Specialist previously worked at KSP Crime Lab
  2. What book (outside the Bible) have you read that will stick with you forever?  The Key to Midnight – a book that definitely makes you think…
  3. What or who is one of the greatest loves of your life [other than the Lord, of course]?  My sweet Baboo – Steve – he brought me to Christ as a troubled teen-ager and I will forever be grateful to him and his Grammy Widener
  4. What quality do you most appreciate in another person?  Honesty and the ability to forgive unconditionally, to say I’m sorry and truly mean it.
  5. What’s the one area in which you are the least frugal?  When it comes to giving to family and friends, sometimes I get carried away and spend money that I shouldn’t on them, but I think it’s only money and I’d rather give it to others than keep it — so what if I’ll never be rich.
  6. When and where have you been happiest?  With my hubby, happier when kids were younger — I’m going to miss them when they move out.
  7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?  The inability to trust
  8. What man or woman has been the greatest influence on your life?  Biblical figure – Joseph; here on Earth, my Granny Baker.
  9. What is your greatest regret?  Not having a loving relationship with my mother.
  10. What would you consider your greatest achievement?  My children, I have an everlasting hope and prayer that they will all return to the Lord’s flock when they stray. But I am proud of them all for many reasons.
