Dana and I saw the sign above while we were in Pigeon Forge last week. We thought it was funny that they specifically put this message on a sign that was trying to point traffic in the right direction – “Your GPS is Wrong”!! It kind of puts you in an awkward position. Here you’ve been driving, putting your trust in where your GPS is taking you, and all of a sudden you see this sign. What do you do? Who do you trust? The GPS manufacturer or whoever put this sign up??
It reminds me of the crossroads we often come to at other times in our lives. We often have to make difficult decisions. We often are unsure of which direction is the right one. I believe that’s why it’s so important for us to remember what Proverbs 3:5 says:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
Many times (though not every time) we struggle to make the right decisions because our own desires and preferences blur our vision. But, if we will trust in the Lord, and trust in His Word, we can know that He will lead us in the right direction. No matter what man-made signs there may be, no matter what any scholar, or trusted friend may advise – they could very well be that GPS that needs updating. God, however, will never lead us astray.
